We know you might have questions about rentals and tours. Here's some answers to some of the questions.

What do I need to bring? Wear clothes that can get wet. Sunscreen or UPF clothing is always recommended.  We recommend layers. There is a place to change and a public bathroom.  We recommend you leave your belongings in your vehicle. We can keep your car keys in a secure location, but we cannot store your valuables. There are tie downs on the boards and kayaks for a small bag of essentials. Here’s what we recommend if you are going out for the day on the bay:

  • Sunscreen
  • Binoculars for bird watching
  • Hat
  • Water bottle
  • Sandals or paddle shoes that can get wet
  • Camera with a waterproof case

How old do you have to be to rent? Renters must be 18 years of age.  If a minor will be using rental equipment the legal parent or guardian must be present and complete our liability waiver.

Are children able to participate in a paddle tour? Children are welcome to join the tour. Children must be at least 12 years old, accompanied by an adult in a tandem kayak. Children must 16 years of age or older and accompanied by an adult to paddle a paddleboard. A parent or legal guardian signature is required on the liability form.

Availability? Can I reserve rentals?  If you want to be guaranteed a board or kayak then we recommend that you make a reservation. Reservations are made over the phone. Please call to reserve. You will be charged for the cost of the rental/s when you make the reservation.

Do I need to reserve a paddle tour? Yes. Tours must be reserved 24-48 hours in advance. Please call to schedule your tour. You will be charged for the tour when it is scheduled.

Where do I park?  For rentals and tours that are based off of our beach, please park in our lot next to the shop. If your tour leaves from a different location directions and a map of where to meet your guide will be sent to you by email the night before your trip.

Is it hard to stand up on a paddle board?  The first time on a paddle board is different for every paddler. With our 10-15 minute beginner instruction, included in your rental and paddle tour you will learn how to stand, paddle, turn and have fun while on the board or kayak.

What is included with a rental? Surftech board or Necky kayak, paddle, leash, P.F.D (personal flotation device) basic paddle and water safety instruction.

What is included on a tour? All the equipment you need: paddleboard, or kayak, paddle, leash, P.F.D (personal flotation device) basic paddle and water safety instruction. Our paddle tours are lead by knowledgeable trained guides who will take you on a 2- 4 hour paddle (dependent on your tour), provide you with a locally made sack lunch and beverage. Wetsuits are available for an additional rental fee.

Are there rules with the rentals? Yes. We have a set of basic safety rules that will be given to you during the basic instruction.  All safety rules must be followed, failure to do so may result in termination of rental without a refund.  All renters must stay on the equipment and it must be used appropriately. Horseplay and running into other boards or objects is not permitted.
