Kayak Rentals & Paddleboards

Solstice Outdoors is your rental headquarters on the bay for stand up paddleboards and recreation kayaks. We are conveniently located on Highway 2, Lake Shore Drive, in Ashland on Lake Superior's Chequamegon Bay. We have great boats for experiencing the calmer waters of Chequamegon Bay or any of our local inland lakes. Please note that we do not have sea kayaks which are recommended for the open waters of Lake Superior.

Our Location

We are located at the head of Chequamegon Bay in the Blue Wave building, literally feet from Lake Superior.  Our private sandy beach is a great venue for hosting larger groups. The shallow water is usually pretty warm (by Lake Superior standards) and The Sandbar Restaurant on site offers tasty meals, snacks, beverages and more.

Our Equipment

We rent what we paddle ourselves! We offer state of the art Surftech paddleboards. SUP specific PFDs, and high quality paddles. Our recreational kayak fleet is top notch as well. If we wouldn’t paddle it or sell it, we wouldn’t rent it.

Paddleboard & Kayak Rates

Full Day Rental $40 for single kayak & paddleboard/ $60 Tandem kayak

(Sundays are only full day rentals 10-4p.m.)

Half Day Rental $25 single kayak & paddleboard

Half Day Rental Tandem (2 person) kayak $35/ Full Day $60

Morning Rental 10a.m.-2:00p.m.

Afternoon Rental 2:00p.m.-5:45p.m.

Paddleboard rentals include PFD, board, leash and paddle

Kayak rentals include PFD and paddle.

Equipment Transportation: Within 30 miles $50. Within 100 miles $100 if available.
